Training opportunities with LGIU this autumn
We are a member of the Local Government Information Unit (LGIU), this means you can benefit from some really valuable training offers and free events this Autumn.
In August, LGIU is offering an extra 15% discount on all training bookings – on top of your 25% member discount – by using the code SUMMER15 when booking. This promotional code is valid until 6 September.
There are also three free virtual events open to members:
A familiar face has recently joined the team at LGIU - Paolo Vestri, our former manager of Policy, Improvements and Partnerships will be LGIU’s new Scotland Content Commissioner. The LGIU team, now including Paolo, is keen to connect with member councils to share plans for autumn content and hear what topics they should cover - this is a great opportunity for our authority to help shape Scotland-focused LGIU programmes. If you have any thoughts on this, please contact Toby Renouf.
Looking further ahead: LGIU’s Chief Executive, Jonathan Carr‑West, will speak at the Solace Scotland conference in September on Integrated Public Service Delivery. LGIU also plans to unveil several research reports over the autumn, including the annual finance survey, studies on local authority‑led nature restoration, and insights from a PhD project on the Scottish National Islands Plan. Additionally, LGIU’s Future Local Lab offers a new case study on how AI-powered tools are enhancing citizen services in places like New York City and Dublin.
To stay updated with LGIU’s latest policies, research and events, you can subscribe to their free local government news roundup - complete with the “And Finally…” summary each Friday.
