What's on at The Brunton this September
A pay-what-you-choose cinema programme, immersive step dance, laugh-out-loud comedy and top tribute acts: The Brunton has a varied programme of entertainment across East Lothian.
Cinema returns to Haddington from September with a regular programme of midweek films at the Corn Exchange. The Brunton invites moviegoers to choose what they pay, from £3 to £10. Film fans can enjoy The Odyssey on Wednesday 2 September. Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland and Zendaya star in Christopher Nolan's adventure following Odysseus's journey home after the Trojan War.
Other autumn highlights include the biographical drama Tony, based on celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain's memoir Kitchen Confidential, Pressure starring Andrew Scott as Musselburgh-born Captain James Stagg, and French Film Festival title Lost Illusions. André Rieu returns to the big screen at the Corn Exchange on Wednesday 16 September with 2026 Summer Concert: Viva Maastricht, captured live in his hometown. Audiences can enjoy an evening of waltzes and classical favourites.
National Theatre Live screenings also return to Haddington, bringing West End theatre to local audiences. The Misanthrope will be screened on Tuesday 22 September at 7pm. Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) stars in this new version of Molière's classic dark comedy.

Deiseil: Dancing In Time comes to Haddington on Sunday 6 September. The show explores Scotland's step dance tradition through music, movement, Gaelic song and storytelling. Dancer Alison Carlyle and musician Amy Geddes lead this immersive performance. A step dance workshop will also take place at the Corn Exchange.
Comedy and live music are also on the programme. Highlights include comedian Gary Meikle on Friday 5 September, Heaven Can Wait: The Ultimate Meat Loaf Experience on Wednesday 3 September, And Finally... Phil Collins on Friday 11 September and The Simon & Garfunkel Story on Wednesday 30 September.
The Brunton's Bite-Sized Concerts series continues this autumn at Northesk Church in Musselburgh. The concerts offer an hour of live music in a welcoming setting with excellent acoustics. Shows now start at 1.30pm and audiences are invited to stay for a complimentary tea or coffee and conversation afterwards.
The series begins on Tuesday 13 October with Grace Skinner-Stewart performing on the clarsach, or Scottish harp, alongside traditional compositions with a contemporary twist.
The Brunton continues to offer a diverse programme of performances, screenings, events and activities across East Lothian. While its main venue remains the Corn Exchange in Haddington, the arts trust also runs regular concerts at Northesk Church in Musselburgh as plans progress for a new home in Musselburgh.
