Wanted - Shibashi instructors

Could you help older adults stay active, healthy and connected?

The Ageing Well Programme is looking for enthusiastic individuals to become Shibashi Instructors and lead gentle exercise sessions for older adults across East Lothian.

What is Shibashi?

Shibashi is a gentle form of exercise that combines flowing movements, breathing and relaxation techniques. It can help improve:

  • balance and stability
  • flexibility and mobility
  • confidence and wellbeing
  • social connection and community involvement

No Shibashi qualification? No problem! If you're passionate about health, wellbeing and supporting older people, we'd love to hear from you.

  • we'll fund your Shibashi Instructor training
  • full support and mentoring from the Ageing Well team
  • opportunities to lead classes in your local community
  • paid instructor opportunities available after training

We're looking for people who:

  • enjoy working with older adults
  • are friendly, patient and encouraging
  • have an interest in health and wellbeing
  • can commit to delivering classes within their local community following training

Interested? We'd love to hear from you and have an informal chat about the opportunity.

Please email pwoodger@eastlothian.gov.uk or phone 07718 117585.
